I work with individuals and businesses to create custom paintings for any space. Whether you are seeking works of art specific to a lifestyle and sense of beauty, or as an agent of atmosphere to help foster an environment, my process is fluid and accessible. My paintings transform a space into a gallery of original art; act as the centerpiece, defining the tone of a room; or help to complete the feng shui of your space. My process is collaborative; together we design a mock-up reference of your painting and you choose your level of involvement. From concept to completion, my approach allows customers to envision their painting and participate in the creation.
- “Against the Dying of the Light” was a show exhibited at Hartshorn Studios, Tremont in Cleveland, Ohio in March of 2013.
“Against” was comprised of a selection of explorations into the quality of light; light as insight, as impression, as raw experience. The exhibit questioned what happens between extreme shifts in light—the vacillations important in every visual conflict.
Fleeting, illuminated moments steer my work; they motivate me to capture and recapitulate a sense of place in light. I collect illuminations like treasures; various in nature like the sky at dusk. The work in this exhibit is my earliest attempt to inhabit the play of atmospheric light and spatial orientation. I investigate, abstractly, the challenge of color interplay, the (dis)tension of value and luminosity, and the discovery of context.
Art Of Industry
Variations of this exhibit were showcased at both Hartshorn Studios locations.
In this exhibition, Hartshorn presents work by five artists who celebrate the beauty and brawn of Cleveland. We delve into the visual signals that define the enduring physicality of our city; surfaces, materials, artifacts, processes, and milieu. What emerges is a collection that re-labels the Rustbelt as the new home of Utilitarian Elegance and Industrial Chic.

Prosper For Purpose
In collaboration with Prosper for Purpose, this collection was born from a series of conversations around creating milieu. Presented are variations on a theme; five different styles, allied by color palette and artistic handling interpret the spirit, focus and design of Prosper for Purpose. Gestural paint application and vibrating colors achieve a playful whimsicality and emotive environment.
All available works currently displayed on location in Tremont.
The recent redecorating at Fahrenheit restaurant in Cleveland gives “Industrial” chic an elegant twist. The soft glow of new lighting reveals a rustic palette of burnt orange, olive green, and rich blacks mirroring the colors of the industrial valley below. Welcome this new face of Fahrenheit, the iconic home of modern cuisine in Tremont.
Hartshorn Studios will continue their presence at Fahrenheit by complementing the walls of the restaurant and bar with thirteen new pieces of art designed specifically for the space. The new series of luminous landscapes, Fahrenheit Collection II, created by Rob Hartshorn and Lila Rose Kole, melds Fahrenheit’s sophisticated style with the powerful heritage of Cleveland’s steel mills and smokestacks. Most of Fahrenheit Collection I, the first series showcased at the restaurant, now resides in a local private collection.
Works at Fahrenheit are on display and available for sale & viewing during business hours or by request.
